The act in itself is not cope, but deliberate application of it is cope.
There is a reason why they don't have proper tongue posture/a certain facial development, and forcing the act, even if it works(which it doesn't), is palliative at best and they will regress as soon as they stop actively doing it, since they can't naturally sustain that kind of force/facial development even if "achieved"(which they don't).
Kinda like people mouthtaping while sleeping, eating hard foods/gums to develop jaw, or all kind of orthotropic/dentistry copes. We work as a system.
