Like how can a singing voice really beat electronic effects and beats. All it is is just image and luck and songwriting/producing skill

Digital tech killed music. No wonder I don't listen to anything that came after 2010

Don't try to deny that talentless scrubs have become successful on the back of autotune and production value. Heck even actors started making records, which would sell given their established fanbase.

Well the first and second are two very different cases both are very talented in different ways to be able to reach their position otherwise everyone would be famous musicians or actors which definitely isn’t the case.

Besides even back in the 90s you had actors making transitions to music or vice versa. Now for this everyone was more talented in the past cope lol let’s not pretend like the Sex Pistols were “musical geniuses” they sold purely on image alone.

Mainstream music at its core is a business if you want artists who focus on the art side of things look to the underground scene and stream their music more helping to change what’s popular otherwise you can’t expect McDonalds to start selling first class steak when people come for the cheap burgers which is what mainstream music is universal appeal for the consumer no matter age or gender.

But to answer your question OP no music isn’t just auto tune most people with no musical background or experience won’t sound like John Lennon or lady Gaga after slapping it on being a good musician and making good music takes years of dedication to your craft. Even a song like paparazzi which looks simple and easy to make was crafted to seem that way for consumers believe me when I say pop music is written by a small amount of talented writers who engineer a lot of things that’s fed to you music wise your average Joe isn’t making a billboard top 10 hit song.

Sex Pistols wrote some really good riffs and hooks.
