My hair is getting long and has grown back but there are no curls on the crown but there starting closer at the fringe

I would shave it off so you can see exactly what its doing and then act if you need to. Dermarolling is tough also when the hair is long back there.

You have long curly hair. As it gets longer, it starts to clump and gravity will pull on the roots more. That’s why you will have patches where you can see your scalp. You aren’t balding at all.
