Is my jaw cooked

Whenever i move my jaw my right side starts making sounds like popping and cracking and i can make it happen while my mouth is closed, it like shifts from one side and sometimes it can lock up and i cant open my mouth if i try going further it feels like its about to tear apart, is this normal?
