protein powder is unecessary since you can already obtain lean protein from food

true but an extra boost wouldn't have any negative effect?

WHEY protein powder is just powdered milk which had fat, vitamin and carbos removed.

isolated protein powder in expensive supplements is not more "powerful" in building muscle than protein from standard food

If you can't eat enough meat, then yea go for it. Realistically though it's unnecessary. You should be eating high protein foods, and you're not just getting protein from meat. Protein powder is pretty wasteful by comparison and can be bad for your gut, imo only people who have a hard time eating a lot should consider it.

JFC. OP listen to me. Protein powder is a SUPPLEMENT. Meaning you use protein powder instead of a meal that you would normally be getting that same amount of protein from. So let's say it is late night, and you have already had dinner. But you are missing 20grams of protein. Drink the shake instead of eating that same amount of chicken breast to hit your goals.

You should be gymcelling, and most people hit their protein goals if you are eating a proper diet anyway. It's only worth it if your diet is shit.
