is retinol/alternatives cope

my skin isnt too bad but its generally pretty oily (im pretty sure its because of the products im using but im working on fixing that rn). my main issues are dark spots/hyperpigmentation from past acne and and a couple small acne scars. i also have dark spots under my eyes. would it be wise for me to get on retinol, could it help with these issues? or is it js cope? any advice would be appreciated

Retinol wont help with acne scars but its good for improving skin tone and texture iirc it also reduces hyperpigmentation.
