Is the DNA appliance just a scam?

The dentists that sell it claim that it not only widens the palate, but that it moves the whole maxilla forward, and that stimulates growth of the manidable to match the maxilla growth. The actual website for the appliance, www.vivolife.com does not make forward growth claims but claims to cure all kinds of ills like TMJ and mouth breathing, and it references a bunch of fuzzy scientific concepts like epigenetics which don't really have anything to do with their product. Well obviously it expands the palate, it look and functions just like a palate expander. But I can't find any before xrays that show forward growth, and the forward growth evidenced by the few before after profile pics I can find is underwhelming at best. As best as I can tell it is really just an expensive palate expander

The DNA is a better appliance because it promotes growth of the jaws forward, wider and taller.

AGGA works totally differently than the Vivos DNA and Homeoblock appliances. Why not to do the AGGA appliance.

I looked in to this thoroughly a few years ago and unfortunately all the evidence are case studies done by the doctors selling the product. I couldn't find a single, peer reviewed paper on any of the mentioned appliances. Nevermind any paper with enough subjects to show it actually works in adults.

I have had Homeblock appliances for about 4 years. Though it is over priced (yet only half the price of DNA), it does an adequate job of palate expansion. The DNA appliance got my attention because of the BS claims of forward growth.

If I knew 4 years ago what I know now, I would have gotten a generic palate expander from a UK lab. 4 years ago the concept of adult palate expansion was dismissed by most, and Homeoblock was my only choice.

I am planning to experiment with my existing Homeoblock and the Bow Pulling frame to see if I can create forward growth.

The fact that everything looks wider by about the same amount suggests that these results aren't legit. I can't imagine a regular palate expander achieving all that. Could be lens distortion or tampered pic.

Those are 3D scans, so I don't think lense distortion has its play here.

However it's very true that palate expanders don't expand the face 100% evenly.


That's why I don't fully rely on mewing or palatal expanders, and try to focus more on chewing. Chewing has been proven at least in children to expand the skull laterally, with good force distribution.

Also you arent educated enough to make claims like that, there are alot more variables to this thn simply pulling and force vectors that could have an impact on how things move arround, i agree that it probably makes sense that that's the case, however thousands of years ago it made sense that the earth was flat too.

I think the homepage of the homeblock appliance itself also talked about how the main focus is not necessarily to expand the palate, but to alter the biting position to assist further lateral expansion.
