I'm curious whether it is a convenient tool to widen palate. I read discussions about how to widen palate and saw such things but I don't know if this one is good for that purpose.

Honestly, I don't know

That's the central mechanism of the expander. You'd still need to attach it to acrylic and wires so that you can mount it into your mouth.
