Can a LeFort 2 cut be performed without visual assistance? In most cases of LeFort 2 surgeons open the skull and visually check the osteotomy lines, but a surgeon who I have booked for consultation in 4 days and does modified LeFort 2 says he instead uses probing and prior scanning to avoid damaging important structures such as the lacrimal glands. Is this a valid and safe way to perform the surgery? He hasn't botched anyone afaik. (Yes, he does this for cosmetic purposes)

This is the cut he's performing btw.

It could be better in some way, less invasive VSP and 3D Guides is starting to be somewhat popular practise
