Idk, good sleep works best for me. Caffeine with some amino acids also do good

why not push the protein back further since it takes longer to digest and use carbs before working out?

I was so confused when he mentioned doing that. Everything else he pointed out seemed pretty normal so I wasn't sure if he was joking or not lol
