Is Tretinoin cope?

As someone who has cystic acne, I have been prescribed Tret multiple times by derms and Ive been using it for 2 months now and my skin has gotten considerably worse. I know purging is to be expected but my acne is a big insecurity of mine and I have expected to see progress by now. When should I start seeing improvements? Is accutane really the only way?

using 0.25% tret rn 3 days on and 1 day off. Only reason I've been hesitant on accutane is because of the side effects it has

you mean .025%?
use it daily then, or every other day, and if it still doesn't have much impact after 2-3 months, then switch to .05%
