Is wisdom teeth extraction necessary before bsso?

I'm consulting for a bimaxillary osteotomy which includes a bsso on my mandible, I was told by my orthodontist I would have to get my wisdom teeth removed first and then wait about 6 months until the surgery could be done. I'm about to turn 16 this month so I have lots of time left to reach my goal of getting bimax before 18 even if I have to wait those 6 months, several of my friends have had their wisdom teeth removed and just said it's a bad experience. My orthodontist told me they would otherwise be in the way of the surgery cuts, I dont want to doubt this however on X-Rays it does look like cuts could also be made behind my wisdom teeth. Just want to make sure.

I genuinely have no idea if I need further decompensation
I educated myself on that last year but I forgot because the bimax plan seemed to be far away, now I got an opportunity though and want to take it
I've been in braces for like 1.5 years and my orthodontist said I should be fine like this for bimax, the consultation with surgeons is still upcoming so idk

Yes insurance would most likely cover the full cost and I would just have to pay a few thousands for aesthetic planning

Public healthcare
I have an overbite of >6mm which is the (18+) requirement for insurance to consider covering a bimax, for children they're more willed to do it and the surgeons I was looking for also have some influence in this
