It is extremely difficult to know how you actually look to other people

wrong. lighting plays a massive part and the fact that you will instantly look at your flaws while another person won’t look at them first.

the only way to truly see yourself is to go on shrooms or acid and look in the mirror tbh. i did it when i first took lsd and i was redpilled on looks. i’d be curious to see what i would look like being blackpilled on looks
coping scum

The correct way to use a mirror is to put 2 at 90 degrees (or make a cube layout like a clothes fitting room) that way you get 1 "true" reflection and several other angles from the side and back.

Cameras are not that bad if the subject is central in the picture and the camera is far enough away for any distortion to have a negligible effect. The reason some people are just more photogenic than others is that they have flatter faces which is indirectly related to forward growth. If you have a gay alien skull your nose will be much closer to the camera than your jaw or ears and the camera will not being able to reproduce this depth perception accurately. With a flatter more developed face cameras better reproduce the face.

Obviously the two main ways of seeing yourself are through cameras and mirrors, but each one presents differences between themselves and how you're actually viewed from a third person perspective.

Cameras
It's pretty easy to think of ways that a camera can distort images (and consequently your face). Lens distortion, lighting, filters, iso, exposure time, single lenses not being able to replicate binocular vision, the list goes on. Even high end video cameras do not capture everything, I've seen some of my local newscasters in real life and they look nothing like how they look on TV. Presence caused by height and frame cannot be replicated on a screen.

Mirrors
You would think mirrors would be better since you view your exact image through your own eyes, but it is still not an accurate representation. When you're looking at your own face in a mirror, you are almost always making direct eye contact with yourself. You are unable to see how you look when you look away or from angles other than straight on unless you use two mirrors, and even then, you're not able to see yourself in motion.

Someone seeing you in natural light from an oblique angle isn't going to turn you into Chico, but it is going to be different from a mirror selfie, so it is important to not judge yourself too harshly especially in pictures.

The best way to know how you look is to have a blackpilled friend tell you exactly how you look to him irl, and have him sit next to you in front of a mirror and tell u how different u look

I suffered from this a lot. To a point where it really damaged my self image bc I felt like I didnt have one at all bc I dont have an accurate representation of what I looked like

Luckily my mom is hyper blackpilled. She calls me out on squinting if i do it too hard and she tells me its cringy and that I should tone it down (I already explained to her I do it for straighter lower eyelids and she says that's alright, just dont do bed room eyes), called me out when I used to jut too much and told me its obvious from my lip positioning, was one of the first people to ever enlighten me on the importance of jaw, and told me how women are drawn to chiseled and angular jaws and how she knows men fraud their shit lower thirds with facial hair

Tldr shes obsessed with looks just like me and is a very credible and honest source. Not saying shes impervious to the whole "my son is handsome" meme but no one irl understands me in terms of lookism like she does

What she told me is that depending on lighting, I look almost exactly the same as mirrors reflect except they make everything proportionately smaller and dim down your skin tone (could be bc lighting is garbage in my house)

Now the whole horizontal flipping mirrors do scared me bc flipping thr images back to normal in cameras made me look shit and asymmetrical

She confirmed that even tho mirrors flip it's not noticeable at all and u look exactly the same

Mirrors are by far the best way to gauge ur looks. Some people have optimistic bias, I doubt most people here do except 5.5 psl narcies. When people look at u they see ur entire main features in harmony (eyes nose and lips) structured on a background of lower third cheekbones forehead and hair, and most of u probably immediately draw ur eyes to a feature u hate about urself
Autistic mom son duo. Good

i wonder if models too see themselves different from camera

I don't remember writing this

cringe schizo ramble even I didn't read :lul:
