I read the first study, it basically says South American skulls are classified into dolichocephalic and brachycephalic for different time groups, but all prehistoric South Americans came from the same ancestral group. but it later found most skulls are actually mesocephalic and not either brachycephalic or dolichocephalic, but you wouldn't know this since you haven't read it at all.
