I've got too much pride to go down the arranged marriage route

Even though I could easily have a selection of options from the top 1% of curries. Even my uncle told me last week I will have multiple options with "special" girls back home; meaning younger, good looking, educated etc.

Throughout my life I've always told my parents I'm not having an arranged marriage. I might be one of the only few curries with FOB parents who didn't have an arranged marriage too. I would tease my older sister for getting an arranged marriage to a FOB back home. I've told all my friends since a young age arranged marriages are for losers and I'll never get one. I told my mother multiple times including in the last month, I'm going to choose my spouse - like as if I have a choice.

I frequently recommend arranged marriages like a hypocrite here. But I only do so because I regret my words when I was younger. If I wasn't so anti-arranged marriage when I was young I would've been more open to it for myself. I can stand the thought of eating my own words and doing something I've always criticised others for doing.

They're doing the choosing, I'm just accepting / declining.

1. They basically ask every one of their social contact for girls available for marriage.
2. Because I'm a foreign passport, careermaxxed, light skin, 5'7.5 (which is taller than average curry) and mog most curries (who look deformed), they will obviously give their most valuable girls.
3. They send a photo and bio to my uncle who first decides whether she's good enough or not.
4. After their approval I basically get a chance to say whether I want to go ahead with the girl after seeing her photo and bio.
5. If I accept it's still not a done deal technically - but basically 99% committed because next stage is meeting. And if I say no after meeting I basically let everyone down. My sister has done this multiple times as a women - now nobody looks for her JFL.

I'm not doing the choosing. I'm just making the final confirmation. Doesn't sound bad tbh, but arranged marriages do get bad rep for some reason. Maybe the "loser" element of it. But mogs meeting some skimpy slut at a nightclub like in most western country.

relatable. I have had an LTR for some years now, but I feel I could do so much better had I just not declined the arranged marriage proposition of my father. He showed me so many young, supposedly kindhearted and good-looking young women, that would do anything for me, but I was too prideful and ridiculed the idea of having to resort to arranged marriages.
