Jaw surgery - What questions to ask during the consultation?

Hey guys,

what questions should I ask the surgeon when I have the consultation?

Obviously:
- Treatment approach (single / bimax, ccw / cw, movements, surgery first)
- Costs
- Risks (worst case, #surgerys performed)

What else would you ask your surgeon?

Can you do a Modified Lefort 3.

And to show you as many before - afters as he can.

How many mm of forward movements also how of vertical movements, genioplasty the same. How many degrees of rotation.
If he makes ccw only with impaction or with posterior downgraft. Which sagittal split osteotomy he use.
If he fills the gaps with bone (the sagittal split should be allways filled during the operation or it can leaves an ugly dent, if he fill the gaps so if he uses bone from the hip or Artificial bone) .
And of course before and after pics, if he can t show you any pictures, run.

Tbh, educate yourself as much as you can about what you need and what you want coming up to the surgery.

We don't know what your end goal is and what are your problems.

We also can't give you a crash course on this.
Even if we gave you the right questions, you probably won't know if the answers are good or bad.
