For thousands of years people had nothing to worry about in their old age because they had children and even grandchildren to take care of them and this was considered an important task. In Asia you are considered an outright terrible person if you don't take care of your family. All the while westerners decided it would be a much better idea to simply try and take care of yourself entirely by yourself by "saving for retirement" LMAO what a fucking joke. How the fuck are you going to scrape together money to pay for a decent life for possibly 15-25 years and still pay for your normal life? Even before the welfare state and state pensions the western mentality was fucked and made no sense just lol at libertarians who think they would be less fucked if they could "save" their money without the welfare state no they would be just as fucked.
