Dream Theater: Untethered Angel
Sick post-chorus breakdown and virtuoso guitar solo, I have linked the best part of the song in the video below so you don't have to listen to the whole thing (2:49-3:25)

Hey @JizzFarmer

You like TOOL? Their early work was a little too heavy metal for my tastes, but when Γ†nima came out in '96, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a heavy, atmospheric sound, and a new sheen of consummate progressivism that really gives the songs a big boost. They’ve been compared to Rishloo, but I think TOOL have a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '96, TOOL released this, Γ†nima, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is β€œThird Eye", a song so proggy, most people probably don't listen to the whole thing. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of peyote, and the importance of psychedelic drugs, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

Lost in the sky
Clouds roll by and I roll with them
Arrows fly
Seas increase and then fall again

Meanwhile I admire John Petrucci's technical abilities I just don't like his choice of notes and the genre he creates his music in. Prog metal is just not my cup of tea, I prefer 80s glam metal, thrash metal, death metal on rare occasions and also classic rock. Bands like GnR, Scorpions, Poison, Skid Row, Megadeth, Metallica, Bon Jovi (here and there), Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd and Arch Enemy is also good whenever I feel like listening to death metal.

Alissa White Gluz sounds like ass, at least to me. The death metal I listen to is mainly Gojira and Death.

I mostly listen to Arch Enemy because Jeff Loomis is an amazing guitarist and song writer. I've heard they've been real dicks to their fanbase before... Alissa's clean vocals are much better imo, but she only used them in one song "Reason to believe".

Their best song imo. The beginning and the second solo. I really like neoclassical shit, like Yngwie and Bach influenced stuff.

2:27 for the solo

Guitar work is nice but I'm not a fan of the vanilla death metal drums. Alissa is so hot tho man
