You start off as a well respected and possibly smart user.

You see an application for perms, apply and lucky for you it works !

You get reps, you get status but you also have to work and deal with constant attention and bs which is funny at the start.
This just comes with the territory, you signed up for it.

After the initial boost you get a bit bored and fed up, you don't even look at peoples faces in pms or deleted msgs like clavs anymore and you might even restrict your profile.

After a while you'll see that he whole .org experience has changed, you rarely post apart from your duties and even if you do it's nothing much just feeding circle jerkers with positive attention, giving life updates or spouting the same ideas you already ma

For example @Gargantuan making the same "morals are fake and for slaves" literate and condescending post while avoiding anything that could entail

In the end you'll either get demoded bc of numbs iq or you'll bleed out slowly hanging on to your privileges by fulfilling them once in a while until your decide to retire.
When you lose your perms you have already losed interest in the forum, now having a restricted tool box and seeing it spiralling from your high seat over the years is enough for you to no longer be able to assimilate back into Offtopic

You still log in every other day to answer your mailbox as if to make up for all the posts you ignored.
You mainly interact with users on dc and have people every other minute reconize you like the niche celebrity you have become.

Such performative behaviour, using super unnecessary words that havent been used ever since the Ottoman Empire

And forcefully addressing he most useless and uninteresting topics like a 34% rise in the dildo market in Johannesburg

And ofc tagging another performative fag who will act engaged to appear intelligent

Huge truth nuke

Honestly the burn out experience is universal for all users not only mods. It does happen quicker with staff members tho, because they have to mix normal posting and their 'duties' or whatever they wanna call it.
