Why do narcissists tend to 'stare' at their supply?
Answer (1 of 84): Narcissists often stare at you when you are not looking, really trying to study you inside-out. Picking up on every cue, however subtle, that might help them glean those things about yourself, which you keep tucked in deep within your soul. You are their next project. Narciss...

Thanks for bringing up the STARE. I had almost let that one wash away, but it’s a great symptom of the narcissist and one I’m sure they cannot disguise very easily.
My former NPD told me he was reading my mouth, which initially I thought, odd, cute, and that he was watching me closely out of adoration.
Later, I figured out it was to literally read my emotions, as he lacked empathy, could not sense or feel what was going on - even when I explicitly told him.
And he was judging me to some extent, preparing for his next episode of ghosting me for something I’d say or do then denying.
But he’s a covert narcissist who envied my social skills and general strength, so he was also preparing to mimic me, (he said he wanted to “be me”). He even started dressing like me, (urban over suburban), became “friends” with all my friends, and took on many of my mannerisms and language. (Can you say creepy?)
He would stare at me during sex, not out of lust or love, he was observing my actions around pleasure like a scientist observing a monkey.
Ironically, all of my friends would say, “Look how much he loves you! He’s constantly staring at you”! Or he’s dressing like you, how cute! Some of them are still “friends” with him because as one “friend”/colleague put it, “he acts like a perfect gentleman” to which I responded “is he supposed to walk around carrying an ax with crazy eyes?”
The STARE is a very clear sign that you are being observed in order to suck your life away."
Btw it's often times hard to tell if you are a narc or assbergers.
