Heterochromia iridis is an uncommon condition in which the two eyes are different in color from each other. Heterochromia iridis may be congenital (present at birth) or acquired.


What causes heterochromia iridis?
Acquired conditions or diseases that may present with heterochromia iridis include:

• Trauma, either blunt or penetrating, may cause unilateral lightening of the iris through atrophy of the iris.
