terrible advice, unless they’ll find out about it in some other way then it’s better for them to at least get the full picture. Parents are extremely illogical most of the time and wouldn’t be able to look past any side effects nor differentiate steroids from rec drugs.

depends on parents trust in their kid and if your already on gear/peps and they dont notice anything then eventually find out you can get away with saying you were fine after all this time being on something

They are not illogical per se, they may have simply had different experiences at different times. The unchallenged importance of looks in dating in particular, is a relatively recent phenomenon, and everyone who additionally participates only makes it worse in the grand scheme of things.
That’s why ultimately, nothing will change, and anyone who seriously believes that this becoming mainstream has a positive overall impact is probably deluded.
