Idk what it is but when I do CLEAN keto/low carb (ie tons of veggies, chicken, ground beef, steak & salmon once a week) I get really radiant/glowing skin (not fake shiny like vaseline) and literally zero bumps.

It’s a shame this diet is near impossible to maintain if you have a social life and workout, anyone else have a similar experience with certain diets?

I can confirm keto influences my skin like this because I do it for a month and my skin gets a glow two weeks in then goes away when I eat normally again. OMAD did the same for me so that’s the alternative since Keto is insanely restrictive.

Have you tried the carnivore diet?

this isn't adding up.
Tomatoes, lettuce, olives, spinach, kale barely have any net carbs in them. Fats will come from olive oil, guacamole, and walnuts usually

I have not, seems way too restrictive for me
Have you noticed any changes in water retention? Does your face look any leaner on low carb diet?

yeah big time, it takes 2-3 weeks and your body will flush out a ton of water. I have kind of experiment for myself but on Keto I drop to 165 and if I carb up for two weeks I hit 180, so that’s a ton of water weight and glycogen to release through keto

Yes and for me the changes come fast like within 3 days, similarly the best skin I’ve ever had is when I wake up from a hangover as I pissed away all the bloat.

JFL it’s not just me, I always have glowing skin no matter my diet after drinking a ton, is it from losing water retention? Makes no sense

Yes and I think that’s why keto also benefits the skin too as it flushes shitload of water.

bro i got the craziest rash when i went on keto

it went from all around my back and chest up to my neck

it was so itchy bro

never doing keto again..

add rice and cut the veggies

most of the benefits come from cutting gluten

my skin quality improves massively once I'm at 10-13% bodyfat, and turns to utter shit around 15%+

It's not keto. You're just eating less junk (and probably less food or calories in general). So it's not about your diet, it's about what you're not eating

Yeah, but plants only have carbs in them, so eating low carb plants is just eating nothing for no benefit. They just rot inside of you. Plus green leaves are very toxic. Do you take damage from fiber and toxins for nothing in return.

Plants don't have fats at all, they have oils.

Anyway, any carbs in a significant amount give me acne. Doesn't matter if it's "clean", like rice or potatoes fried in animal fat.

Keto is legit af

Hell yeah man.

I was tired of getting small acne spots here and there, as an adult. It wasn't severe, but as soon as a pimple disappeared, another one was born elsewhere. It was super frustrating. Also my skin showed inflammatory redness in various places under white light.

I had tried all possible creams (tretinoin, AHA/BHA, azelaic acid, silcylic acid) without success.

I decided to try a strict keto diet for a month to see if it had any influence.
Oh boy, to my surprise, it worked fucking well.
No more acne spot. Not at all. I could look at myself in harsh elevator light and my skin was clear.

Crazy shit.
But it's exhausting to eat only oilseeds. It's a crazily restrictive diet. So I think I'll try low-carb instead of pure keto.
