Giga falio. These kids always get into trouble and have no friends. They’re typically accompanied by a special resources teacher to sit with them in class

I was that kid ngl. Untreated adhd was very severe

It’s not good at all and will be something that drastically downgrades your quality of life and educational/financial outcomes.

Note: When I mention the word “severe ADHD”, I’m talking about ADHD + Learning disability.

- Random unrelated thoughts 24/7 which take away focus from the task at hand

- Random bursts of energy to focus on something else unrelated to important things, such as doing your homework

- Brain fog. You struggle to form consistent trains of thought and struggle to build onto your ideas, due to the 2 reasons mentioned above. Your mind is foggy due to it racing and filling with new random thoughts and not being able to think in the way you want it to

- Bad memory. This depends on the severity of your ADHD. Due to my severe ADHD, I can completely forget about something instantly while my peers still remember

- You are constantly fidgeting or trying to move. You shake your leg, tap your feet, do shit with your fingers, etc. I used to just shake my leg and chew on random shit

- Terrible impulse control. You cannot control your urges. If your mind wants you to eat something, you will have a hard time saying no, due to it being stuck in your mind and being a repetitive thought which you can’t control. This is why adhd has a strong correlation with obesity.

This is also why it has a strong correlation with crime. You get quickly angered and your mind tells you to act. Your mind basically forces you into it by making the thought stuck in your head until you carry it out. As mentioned before, having a detailed train of thought to prevent you from acting and genuinely think about the consequences is extremely hard, if not impossible. So you pull out your gun and kill somebody, or beat somebody up, etc.

- Terrible planning since your brain cannot realize the severity / implications of what’s going on. If you have a deadline coming up your brain won’t have any concept of how close it is, or how much it matters. You will easily be able to put it off due to not thinking about it. It’s almost like the thought of deadlines is pushed to the very back of your brain, while random unrelated thoughts and urges are pushed directly to the front.

- Slow reaction time / response time. This depends on the severity of your condition and Must be based on the individual level.

Some people have mild ADHD and do not have slower reaction time. Some people with severe adhd will have drastically lower reaction times and processing speeds or in other terms, will be mentally delayed. Unfortunately, I have a severe variant of ADHD.

All of this combined basically excludes you from being able to participate in society and is why most western countries will let you coast on welfare if you have severe ADHD.

People like to say ADHD is over diagnosed and I agree. People with genuinely high energy often get misidentified as people with adhd.

But actual ADHD that is diagnosed by a psychiatrist through a psychological assessment is something that will almost always Fuck your life up severely. Having it is no joke. You will mostly find it among welfare users, violent repeat offenders and in general, the very lowest of any society.

I have all except the last 2, but i always excelled at school. Compensated by working harder than everyone else. Didn't realize I was abnormal until university.

sorry if that came off as a brag. It wasn't a good thing. In high school I wasted most of my free time studying. I guess the point is, it can be done if you're willing to put the work in. It's not a death sentence. And don't be ashamed of using medication to reach your full potential
