Considering how risky lefort II is - is it retarded to undergo the osteotomy for the sole purpose of fixing a recessed maxilla?

I have no breathing issues, no sleep apnea, no severe deformities, just a recessed maxilla that is holding back my facial aesthetics.

Is this surgery worth it only for that fix, or are there better, safer alternatives that also effectively fix a recessed maxilla?

buddy you are not getting a lefort ii

Tbh if you have the money then do it but, insurance won’t cover if you don’t have any real reasons to get it for example breathing problems and problems with swallowing etc.. but if you get an evaluation on your maxilla and placebo yourself to believing you can’t breath or do any of the symptoms that a lefort 2 patient needs, then you would easily be able to lie to the doctor to get a lefort 2

worth it if it’s severely recessed imo, if not lefort 1+rhino with cartilage grafting for nose projection should be fine

no one will preform a lefort 2 except maybe giant, he will use you as a test-subject.

Here is an image for reference, I don't think it is a severe recession, I do have very recessed infra orbitals, and have slight nasolabial folds/smile lines. This is a midface problem. What do you guys thing?

Mm. I posted a pic for reference, what do you think is best?

maxilla doesn’t even look recessed tbh
do you have ct scans? the negative orbital vector might just be a lighting problem
facial convexity is fine, chin isn’t recessed, nose is straight, midface is projected

Hmm, you sure? The angle goes inward where the maxilla is, no?

In bad lighting and downward angels, my nasolabial folds look horrible and my eye bags get super prominent.

Also, no CT scans. How can I get these? What info would they give me?

yeah that’s the orbital vector, as i said the shadow might be just a lighting problem
for ct scans just consult a ortho
he’ll let you know if your maxilla is recessed
judging from the pic it’s not
if you don’t have bite/airway problems it’s likely not

Nice. I will do some more digging soon. I'll post pics in this section later on and get more insight + with front profile shots.

Thanks for your insight and help though, appreciate it.

i just checked the pic again and it’s very likely the lighting, since the light comes from above you but in front of you it shoots down on the inframalar area and makes the shadow go backwards, making it look like the orbital vector is negative
maxilla is very very likely not recessed
if you want try to take the pic but with the light slightly behind you instead of infront of you
