People take horrible selfies and think what they see in the picture is how they actually look.
Lens distortion is real, and those who say it's cope are in denial.

I understand this is water for some of you, but I felt like this needed to be reminded of.
Many people have said they look bad in selfies but ok in the mirror. This is why. It's not cope

Good looking people still tend to look good in distorted photos, so maybe that's what they're referring to.

I agree. This is not so much aimed at the good looking ones, but to those who struggle with selfies but look better in the mirror

Fat and people with wide faces benefit from lens distorsion of selfies as it makes the face longer and narrower.

Thats another form of distortion. When the photo is taken from too far away/using very long focal lengths, it makes the face wider and less tall than it actually is. So its the opposite effect of selfies.

guys are more forgiving when it comes to girls not fitting a specific ratio, and also they generally have better ratios by default e.g. better eye areas and noses and skin 9/10 times
