As someone who went from christian to agnostic, i can say 100% it was one of the best decisions for my mental health.
When I was a christian, i feel like I was restricted to doing things I love doing. the question of "Is this a sin" or "am i going to hell for doing this" weighed me down heavily. After sinning I felt like shit and I would constantly question whether if im good enough or if im not taking my faith serious enough. The constant fear of going to hell and about immortality really took a toll on me, I was scared of living practically. I finally ended up giving in and leaving a set religion. And living life without religion is great. I feel like the whole thought of religion is too complicated, people dedicate their whole lives to being one set religion when I believe their is more to life then that. Imagine being born just to dedicate your whole life to the person who created you. Sounds a bit overkill don't you think? I feel as if now religion is all about who sins the less even though sinning is a natural human element.
I still believe in a God though, or one atleast. I believe there are too many coincidences that have happened in our existence and too many unsolved questions about our existence

Add on- I also feel as if the idea of the closer human to God. ETC a priest is the stupidest thing i've ever heard. I do not believe a single human being is closer to God. I do not believe their should be ranks in the church. I do not believe a single human has more authority over another or religion rite.

Yes, I believe that religion has become more about your sins than your faith, I know lots of people who literally fear monger people into sinning less. When I believe that isn't the true meaning of religion.
Its quite hard to type out what I mean, im trying to phrase it the best to my ability through words

Reading this kind of thing just makes me feel fortunate that I wasn’t raised religious, would’ve added a whole extra layer of inhibition on me.

I’d say that looking at religion through psychology, that it is projection and among other things a coping mechanism, makes it almost impossible to take it seriously and be religious.

I wasn't necessarily raised religious either. But i did tend to find more religious meaning over the years as I got interested in the whole thought of "why do we exist". Which then made me go down this whole religious path that wasn't good for me at that young of an age.
But yes, I do believe religion is a cope for many people. A cope that there is a meaning to life, cope that they are special in any way. And most importantly, coping with the fact of inevitable death. I do not believe the existence of religion is necessarily bad though. I do believe religion ahs helped a lot of people, but it has done the opposite for many.

Agreed, but religious people will hate u for saying this. Especially muslims, they'd stone u for saying this. Islam basically means slave to Allah, they're conditioned from birth to accept that. They can't think or live any other way.

Firstly, i wanna start by saying that you dont go to hell by sinning, Christ bled and died on the cross to save you from hell, in the Bible (idk what verse) it says that your past, present and future sins are forgiven, so God already knows you sinned and forgave you. There is no unforgivable sin you can do, the only unforgivable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit which you can't do anymore since you dont live when Christ lived. Then you might ask "then why do we pray“ well take it like this: if i hit someone but they forgive me i should still want to say sorry, right?. So by praying you want to ask God if he can do something for you and if it would be good for you he will grant the wish, or saying thanks, or saying sorry. As for questioning if you are good enough, Christ will always forgive you, dont worry.

Also you aren't dedicating your life to the person who created you, God created us, told us not to sin but we still went ahead and betrayed him, after all you cant even count how many times you sinned trouough your life but yet Christ still loves you.

He wasn’t ever a “Chridtian”. He is just a cultural Christian in the sense that he grew up in a nation/family with Christian values but he never followed the religion obviously. @lifeless wants his cake and wants to eat it, he denies Christ but bases his make belief fictional God on the Christian God, but due to being an Agnostic aka Spirtual coward he has no genuine answer to “how” god is and “who” god is, he is equally justified to say gods an Tyrannical demon like Rene Descartes or saying God is good like the Christian God, either way he has 0 Justification as to HOW HE KNOWS gods like this.

So essentially he’s a little bitch

i mean honestly any priest or Pastor can answer this “hell” issue very easily and my sect doesn’t even view hell as this “Place of fire brimstone torture and pain” like Western Christian’s usually do. But you see many idiots instead of trying to find answers they choose to make their own decision and damn themselves due to their own naivety and ignorance.

I HAVE 0 SYMPATHY FOR THEM. It’s a google search away :lul:

I’m going to assume he was an Evangelical they seem to have an unnatural stupid obsession with Hell and have a very literal incorrect theological interpretation of hell which is unironically very similar
To the Islamic view of hell @yeeyeeslayer you know the sadistic God who throws you into fire and punishes you forever enjoying your torment like it says in the Quran.

Well that’s not the historical view of hell (hell is just a place away from god literally that’s it) and many Protestants even are beginning to find this out fortunately but because they are Protestants their very Ad Hoc on every topic due to their Heresy.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I left Islam. I don't understand how Muslims can't see that their false god is just a narcissistic, sadistic, evil demon that deceived Muhammad by appearing as an angel of light, or it's just the imagination of people that possess those personality traits who wrote the shitty book called "Quran".
Islam has the same concept of determinism/fate as Calvinism, they basically think that everything was written down before we even began to exist, so there's no free will according to them. Now my question to Muslims is, if allah knew that some souls were absolutely destined to go to hell with no other possibility whatsoever, and go through unimaginable suffering for eternity, then how can allah be the most merciful and most compassionate? By following their logic, their god is the ultimate evil, more evil than Satan himself. Ballah is the most sadistic, cruel, perverted, shitty god that someone can come up with, and if he really exists I wouldn't accept to worship him, I'd spit on his face and show him my middle finger 🖕🏻and tell him to suck my dick.

You never followed the religion. I read your bullshit essay and all I got from it is that you never understood it, you had a false presupposition of Christianity and followed that nonsense belief which is some make belief bulshit you made up

So you admit you never understood Christianity and essentially created your own relgion. Being uncertain is ok we all have slight doubts. Why not be skeptical of evolution or modern scientific theories and historical discoveries if your going to be like this at least be consistent

neutral take on god is retarded you have no metaphysical framework to ground your belief systems or even epistemology. Essentially your in the dark

Sounds like you were evangelical… the most retarded branch of Christianity. I suggest looking into Eastern Orthodoxy or even Roman Catholicism because Protestantism leads to this confusion and evangelical obsession with “Hell fire and Brimstone” isn’t even biblical hell isn’t some place where god tortures you
