How long will the whole process take?
I got a slight overbite and a narrow ass palate. I can barely see my teeth when I smile (while jutting, even worse when not) and my mouth is tiny. How long will a marpe take, also I wanted to get invisalign but don’t know if its possible after marpe. I need to know how long this will theoretically take so that I can prepare to look like a retard in public.

Turning phase is like 3–6 weeks.
Visible expansion happens in the first 1–2 months.
Then it just sits in your mouth for 4–6 months so the bone can stabilize.
So realistically the MARPE itself is like 6–8 months total.
Invisilin after marpe100% possible. MARPE fixes...

do your upper teeth fit over your lower teeth perfectly on the sides of your mouth like this
Deepbite5
in the blue area, do your upper teeth sit over the lower teeth like shown in the picture or are they inwards (like a crossbite?)

unless your teeth look like THIS (crossbite), dont go for marpe

I got my marpe removed a few days ago (it stayed in my mouth after expansion for about a year and 2 months in total)

my maxilla has definitely moved forward by a bit, as i now have an overbite now (of maybe 2mm) and i did not have any overbite before

since you already have an overbite, chances are marpe will worsen it. Also, there is no point in getting marpe for aesthetic purposes because it only made my nose a bit more crooked. No noticable change in my nasal angle or whatever despite my maxilla being moved forward.

if you get marpe done, you are going to need either braces or invisalign afterwards eitherway to correct the shape of your arch and fix crooked teeth.

the only reason i got a marpe in the first place is because i had a crossbite on one side like shown in the 2nd picture above. I would not have gotten it done if it was not for the crossbite.

also, braces are a pretty MAJOR failo while they are in your mouth

see the blue area

when i had my braces + marpe in my mouth, the blue area was a little bulged. This is because that's where the marpe gets attached to your molar and the thing itself is pretty thick, so it makes that end of your mouth stick out by a tiny bit.

this HORRENDOUSLY fucks up your side profile until you get it removed. Your ogee curve when seen from the side isnt as sharp anymore.

i did not notice it myself too much while i had it in my mouth, but after removal, my side profile looks MUCH better.

My tongue doesn’t even fit in the roof of my mouth(it hits almost the middle of my first molars) and I wake up with a dry mouth every morning which I assume is because I mouth breath all night. I can see how it could make my overbite worse but its not really the worst thing.

Tbh it doesn’t matter for me since i’m like 220lbs 5’10 atm:lul: I’m not going back to school till around next year(if I get accepted) and I have to loose weight anyways so it doesn’t really matter for me because I want to do this while I’m fixing every other flaw so once i’m done I can be mmtn:lul:

From the picture you sent in this thread, I wouldn't get marpe if i was you tbh

YOur upper teeth already arch outside your lower teeth and this is the end goal of getting a marpe (which u already have)

Also if you want to send anything to me, open a "conversation" (the email icon next to your profile picture at the top bar.)

your occlusion seems okay from front, though i need to see side profile cuz youre saying you have overbite. idk how long the entire proces takes but i guess its like 2 months.

just make sure you dont bite on ur tongue with your molars and premolars like i did since its gonna fuck up your whole occlusion and shorten your molars. other than that overvite without deepbite is fine. just make sure you get MSDO or some kind of skeletal mandible expansion after marpe for both aesthetics and avoid telescopic bite.

Invisilin after marpe100% possible. MARPE fixes the structure, Invisalign fixes the alignment. Pretty much the standard combo now (litteraly what I'm doing).

Invisalign Could be 12–18 months for someone like you, for me it was closer to 18 months it will probably take you 1.5–2 years start to finish.
You’re not gonna look dumb the whole time. It’s just the first month that’s annoying

IF THIS HELPED PLEASE REP AND PUT AS SOLUTION

found this mad helpful but ngl I don’t know how to mark a solution😂 thanks tho this helped a lot i’m abt to turn 16 so i’m still gonna consider it because my palate isn’t necessarily narrow my tongue just doesn’t fit on the roof of my mouth(hits pre and 2nd molars) I tried morphing my face to see if I would look dumb at the after result but I didn’t do it right and it looks stupid:feelswhy:

At 16, you have a very very small chance that your maxilla is not fused, so instead of getting a MARPE you can just get a RPE which is cheaper and hurts way way less, the way to check is you get a cbtc scan.
