depression is trying to tell people something in their life is wrong. most of these people dont have a long term purpose(job, business that they enjoy, girlfriend, group of friends, good supportive family, 2 hobbies outside of work, good diet, exercise, sun. and then wonder why theyre depressed

There‘s also another thing called chronic mild unpredictable stress which can cause animals to develop diseases like diabetes, Parkinsons etc. Examples of mild unpredictable stress can be anything like public humiliation by your teacher, boss or being stuck in traffic while an important meeting is in progress. Since most people experience these things daily I think it could be a significant reason why so many people develop chronic diseases.

Theres a perfectly inverse relationship between dopamine and serotonin so try to reduce serotonin. I read a study which showed that CSDS induced anhedonia in rats was reversed by tianeptine which is an atypical anti-depressant. If you are taking any SSRI or SNRI class anti-depressants then consider discontinuing.

As for the mild unpredictable stress there is no way to avoid it short of becoming a monk. If you were bullied and ostracised as a child then all those social defeats are pretty much etched into your brain and I don’t know if there’s any way to ‘forget’ it.

Indeed. It is in fact much worse since dementia and parkinson doesn't affect young people.

So it only takes away some of the pleasure of lives at oldcel dying age that is not that valuable imo. It's basically nature telling you, that you are too old and it's time to die. Natural cause of death. (ofc theres exceptions, just as theres unlucky young ppl that cancer, but its extremely rare)

Diet/Exercise never helped with my depression at all.

For me it's more about mental self-care, getting more in touch with yourself: recognizing negative thoughts/emotions and dealing with them. And presenting positive thoughts/scenarios that lead to goals and ambition.

But it's not easy and takes shitton of energy tbh. It's something you have to train I guess, just like you have to unlearn all the negativity that goes on in your mind.

I am extremely self-critical for example and that's just a huge mental drain on my life.
