Messy/textured vs Neat/slicked hair

From the girls I’ve asked and my own personal experience, messy/textured is more attractive than neat/slicked hair.

But why is this; what makes it so attractive?

I guess messy looks a bit more youthful and genuine, while slicked (in your pick) looks too geometric, sharp, and unnatural.
It's like how many guys prefer women with their natural hair rather than overly straigthened hair, I guess humans are made to perceive when natural features have been altered in some way, and we're subconsciously suspicious when we detect alterations.

In an evolutionary sense, women are drawn to good genes I.e. what comes naturally
