Modafinil is a wake-promoting agent that is pharmacologically different from other stimulants, its main advantage being it doesn't cause euphoria or other side effects associated with narcotic stimulants.
It has little to no in vivo affinity for the serotonin or norepinephrine transporters. However, elevated concentrations of norephirine and sertonin in the prefrontal cortex and hypothalamus have been observed following modafinil administration, possibly as an indirect effect of increased extracellular dopamine.
The recommended dosage for adults is 200mg of modafinil per day.
It's considered relatively safe, apart from 1 in 10 users experiencing dizziness, diarrhea, headaches and other symptoms.
