when you're in shops or the streets, they often have music blasting from speakers. i cant think with all that noise!
when your hands are free, people say, "you should listen to a podcast bro, to get your knowledge up". dude, i cant think with some guys rambling in my ear!
radios in cars? same deal
when people are alone, they hop onto their phones or PCs, and watch youtube or talk with others on discord or something
i'll not act like there's some sort of conspiracy going on. i'm just telling it like it is. people aren't thinking, man! and it's sad. cos some beautiful things can come about from thinking.
but i'll tell you this... why do shops play music? well, there's multiple reasons, but they ultimately do it so that you think less, and are more driven by primal instincts (as opposed to composed/rational thought). so, ultimately, the constant audial stimulation creates a population that is increasingly driven by primitive drives, and is therefore the perfect mindless consumer! (seeing as modern advertising appeals to the primitive brain, rather than the rational brain – modern advertising is posing the product next to a beautiful girl, while advertisements 80+ years ago might have listed the benefits of the products themselves). we can extrapolate the concept of shops playing music to manipulate your spending habits, to then understand that the constant stimulation in wider society results in a population that is herdlike and unthinking – the consumer society, the society of the spectacle
make sure to take an hour, or more, of your day to go on a walk and think over some stuff. without music, of course!
