As humans, we tend to prefer muscle meat while finding organ meat "gross" and therefore feeding it to our pets, especially cats who are pure carnivores. That's why humans are more likely to end up deficient in fat soluble vitamins such as A, D, E and K, which affect facial bone development.
Another factor affecting facial growth is breastfeeding vs formula feeding: us humans prefer feeding our babies formula in bottles, and consider breastfeeding to be icky, which also encourages the downwards growth and recession of the human face. Cats, on the other hand, breastfeed their kittens for at least 2 months (try weaning a kitten at a younger age and you'll be labelled an animal abuser by most people!), while most women who do breastfeed do so for way less than that.
Therefore, most cats are moggers while the vast majority of humans end up 5/10 psl and below.
