Why do we have sex? Have you ever asked yourself this question? Why do we have sexes. Why is there a male and a female. Why can't life replicate itself without having males? Those are all legit questions but people rarely ask them. We see ourselves and other advanced forms of life all having sex in one form or another in order to reproduce. But truth is - sex hasn't always been around.
There is a lot of primitive forms of life that don't need sex to reproduce. They do it asexually. If you look at the basis of everything that life is- a cell. It multiplies itself without having a male partner or any form of sexual intercourse so it leads us to one simple realization. Life doesn't require sexual reproduction. Advanced life on the other side does.
It is not a secret that all this variety of living beings didn't just appear out of nowhere. Nor it was designed by someone's consciousness. It is just a result of a process called evolution. And what are the requirements for evolution to occur?
3 things
Reproduction
Variation
Selective Pressure
So when you have a population of living beings in order to start the process of evolution they have to start to reproduce sexually. Sexual reproduction is what secures both Variation (due to recombination of genes) and Selective pressure (due to selective nature of females).
Basically the only reason why we evolved to what we are now is because for millions of years countless males died without reproducing. They went extinct without passing their genes. Males in a way are designed to be like cannon fodder. An expendable material that fuels evolution
. Because whole system is designed in a way that those who are weak and unfit should die out and those who are superior will have the most access to reproduction thus pushing species towards better fitness and genetic value.
