Characteristics of vertically grown face:
-short ramus and steep mandibular plane
-steep oclusal plane
- due to angle of mandibular body Chin appear to be recessed and vertically elongated
-flat and long midface being both a result of taller nose and long philtrum, effect is even stronger due to fact that downgrown structure pull soft tissues down-> resulting in scleral show.
- lack of angularity- square jawline is result of flat mandibular plane
Here are some examples of bimax results in 27-30mm range
The movements are gargantuan and while those results are impressive there is still room for more projection. Since mandible is really steep it has to be rotated to a really big extent to make it pararellel to the ground as well as maxilla has to be lifted up to a great extent to make room for new occlusion.
In this theoretical case done by C pogonion is moved 41.4mm and occlusion is rotated around 15°.
So if you are vertical grower... few centimeters for you.
