My accent reduction classes start from next week

Finally booked it. I'm trying to get my accent to a Neutral British accent or the modern RP. Not as posh as regular RP but still good.

I got a C1 and Band 8 in my overall assessment. More or less just as fluent as highly educated native speaker of English so they told I don't need to attend any English classes

This is my accent. I'll post my voice after 3-4 months from now.

A native speaker to be your white slave and tutor you? Go on now!
No. I just want to be able to have a normal social group and not have my accent or background come in the way. I already told my parents i will be getting married early and changing my accent would help me in finding my wife @imontheloose

I like your British sarcasm and polite passive aggressiveness
Why, thank you very much! I only mean it in a fun, bluntly comedic way; no harm done.

your Indian accent is still very noticeable but it's better than most Indians

hopefully the classes help and you can larp online as a true British white man.
☝️ This, but since youβ€˜re Indian and your Indian accent still shines through a lot, Iβ€˜d probably try to adapt an American accent instead.

The Indian accent and posh British accent are much closer to each other, which Iβ€˜d assume makes it actually harder to get rid of it, since youβ€˜ll be more inclined to slip back into the Indian accent youβ€˜ve grown up with than if you spoke an American one.

You wouldnβ€˜t call them fluent english speakers though if they canβ€˜t be understood.

Also unrelated question, Iβ€˜ve heard upper class Indians are actually proud of their indian accents when speaking english and view it as a signal of high-class when speaking among each other. Is that true?

In those old money royal houses i can see it being as such. Among themselves they don't "neutralize" or hide it . For them sounding too Americanized or trying to erase the Indian accent feel insecure or "wannabe."

This guy is an example. Satyajit Ray. Textbook old money. Aristocratic, studied in a British boarding school and part of the bhadralok elite of Bengal

Hm, it is still easily noticeable you are Indian but it isn't that bad, it can really be worked with. IME it doesn't take that much to have clear improvements with the accent depending on how talented you are (though your results are pretty good so you probably are to a certain degree).

Um, NEWS FLASH -- you were not born as a SCANDI HTN+ which means that there's NO POINT in trying to be MORE WHITE -- if anything it's MORE BENEFICIAL to be as CLOSE to a DARKSKIN as possible which is why the SHIT colored Indians unironically DO BETTER than the lighter ones. It's quite IRONIC how the group of people you HATE most is really the PATH to your own DATING SUCCESS -- really about TIME you get those BRAIDS and embrace your TRUE destiny.
I say this all the time but people constantly say I'm wrong etc. That's why I rot because I'm a medium skinned brownboi and not a dravidian or chamar or whatever.

You say that to troll everyone knows this

What exactly do I say to troll everyone? I basically said three things in my post.
All that Dravidian, Chamar crap.

All that Dravidian, Chamar crap.
No I don't. :feelswhat: I said it because one of my foid friends she likes South Asians but specifically mentioned she liked Dravidians. And that was years ago so I've been repeating that and they weren't coping because I see it often.

He is highly educated. He studied in a old British boarding school and Presidency college and went to London after that. About as prestigious as it gets for an Indian at the time.

yeah it does hold you back ngl. at my company theres some good shitskins but their accent holds them back so they can never come on meetings with clients cos it would be a gigafailo to our company. so i get paid like 10x more than them cos im presentable with my british accent. also we have to change the names of our shitskin foreign employees on their email so it sounds not ethnic. some peoples work they send via my email cos their name was a gigafailo and one of our clients asked if we're outsourcing when they heard our employees name πŸ’€ maybe change ur first name too

That's such a black attitude to refuse to properly pronounce words, as not to come off as a "coon".

I've also seen plenty of Indian dating shows on Netflix, where all the participants spoke perfect English, but somehow every single one of them refused to pronounce the words correctly or put in any effort to do so.

I don't associate or ascribe to those false pride ideals tbh. Do what you want and do what you like. For me, it's less about abandoning my identity and more about having flexibility because how you speak becomes a proxy for how you're perceived.

based. It's also mentally sick to pride yourself on having been colonized and not properly educated during those times, which resulted in the creation of this washed accent.
