My BSSO thread.

out of curiosity, how did you get your parents to pay it for you? And is there a reason why your considering a fat graft over implants for the way you want to look? Im curious as to what your conclusion was to look the way you want to look.

Cus it was medical, I was 17 at the time they agreed.

If I’d go for implants it would only be titanium, they’re expensive af too. I think there’s cheaper and fat grafts bring less complication.

I’m looking better for sure even through the swelling I can see it already.

@False
What is BSSO again?
And why are you getting it?

bilateral sagittal split osteotomy, a surgery where your jaw gets moved and rotated to correct your bite.

  • Bilateral = on both sides
  • Sagittal = along the length direction
  • Split = the bone is split
  • Osteotomy = surgical cutting of bone
this section is chatGPT:
  • Sagittal
    → front-to-back direction (like BSSO)
    → divides the body into left and right
  • Coronal (also called frontal)
    → side-to-side direction
    → divides the body into front and back
  • Transverse (also called axial)
    → horizontal direction (top-to-bottom split)
    → divides the body into upper and lower
BSSO is only sagittal.
I had an overbite meaning my lower jaw needed extension.
The jaw is broken in a "stairs" shape on both sides.

a thing to note here, i didnt have plates but screws, 3 screws on each side.
like this:

95_p310_i340.png

91_p370_i090.png

Bsso-25-320.jpg

i dont know which of the two however. im guessing right* with my pain distribution.
a short article on this:
I had an advancement of 7-8mm forward and a slight rotation.

@sub5_poopcel
Do you plan to have any surgeries on the maxilla?
No, however, if possible i would like a genioplasty but its no priority or a "per se" case.
My entire jaw is strong, even before correction, although i feel my chin needs more projection.
This can easily be done with threads and specifically for my chin fillers, i'll do that most likely.

@gymcelld
How much?
Actually i dont know, my parents paid for every dime + insurance.
I'm estimating €6-7 maybe almost 8k for the surgery itself.. I'm going with €8k easily since i went to a private clinic.
Private clinics can charge up to €12k alone for the surgery itself even.
Since this one is the best around in Belgium (imo) i'd say €12k total isnt shy of the truth.

@svarddre
Are you nervous
I wasnt at all besides the ten minutes in the O.R. right before.

@Itsov3rlol
What are your expectations?
To look hotter and sexier ofcourse. worked i'd say but its not yet much visible due to swelling.

My surgeon said the swelling will be (almost) fully gone in two weeks.

Partially, not telling.

If you've read this far, again, dont ask to post results here, they'll be posted censored in a future thread and uncensored to those i feel like sharing it to in PM.

If there are ANY other questions i suggest asking them now, you have a chance to ask it first hand. Outside of this thread i will ignore any questions regarding my surgery.

i have a follow up question to this, is there a reason why you would conisder titanium implants over silicon wrap around? what is the ROI for titanium over the latter?

i know its going to be hard.
Especially after getting the braces put on they make my bite worse before the surgery then obviously fix it. :feelsrope:

BSSO is only sagittal.
I had an overbite meaning my lower jaw needed extension.
The jaw is broken in a "stairs" shape on both sides.

a thing to note here, i didnt have plates but screws, 3 screws on each side.

i dont know which of the two however. im guessing right* with my pain distribution.
a short article on this:
I had an advancement of 7-8mm forward and a slight rotation.

@sub5_poopcel

@gymcelld

@svarddre
Are you nervous
I wasnt at all besides the ten minutes in the O.R. right before.

@Itsov3rlol
What are your expectations?
To look hotter and sexier ofcourse. worked i'd say but its not yet much visible due to swelling.

@3pider
are you posting b & a
censored in a different thread yes, PM me for the uncensored images once my swelling is gone.
My surgeon said the swelling will be (almost) fully gone in two weeks.

@Sub->CL
Covered by insurance? Name of doctor?
Partially, not telling.

If you've read this far, again, dont ask to post results here, they'll be posted censored in a future thread and uncensored to those i feel like sharing it to in PM.

If there are ANY other questions i suggest asking them now, you have a chance to ask it first hand. Outside of this thread i will ignore any questions regarding my surgery.

I'm one week post op today and just came back from control.

@False
What is BSSO again?
And why are you getting it?

bilateral sagittal split osteotomy, a surgery where your jaw gets moved and rotated to correct your bite.

  • Bilateral = on both sides
  • Sagittal = along the length direction
  • Split = the bone is split
  • Osteotomy = surgical cutting of bone
this section is chatGPT:
  • Sagittal
    → front-to-back direction (like BSSO)
    → divides the body into left and right
  • Coronal (also called frontal)
    → side-to-side direction
    → divides the body into front and back
  • Transverse (also called axial)
    → horizontal direction (top-to-bottom split)
    → divides the body into upper and lower
BSSO is only sagittal.
