I went to an 18th birthday party of my friends, it was quite the special occasion as you'd expect, and honestly i was glad to see everyone enjoying themselves. :Comfy:

There were in total 25 people, plus her dad and mom (they left later though), there was a ton of alcohol and food, but i didn't really get to enjoy myself, because 95% of people there i actually didn't know, so i wasn't sure i wanted to get drunk in their company. Speaking of alcohol, i actually brang some myself as a gift, it was the Gin Mare.

It basically tasted 1:1 to typical vodka.. but I'm not much of an alcohol enthusiast so take that with a grain of salt - everyone else seemed to enjoy it though, so i was very glad. It was the first bottle to go down!

My friends brought masks with the birthday girls face on them for everyone to wear, it was pretty weird to me but overally funny when it first happened :Comfy: Plus they also brought along boobs-shaped piñatas, which should be the typical 18th birthday experience IMO.

Now, to actually talk about my experience - it was pretty bland. I'm not one for parties, especially dancing and singing, so most of my time I just autistically sat in my sit and listened to music in my wireless earbuds lol :feelsautistic: At one point it was pretty sad, because they were showing memories from my friends life and just by this and looking around i noticed the massive amount of life I've been missing out on just by being a loner. At my 18th birthday, I'll be lucky to spend time with one person, and I probably won't even meet my parents :hnghn: Still, i was happy for my friend, she's a great and nice person and i believe she deserves the luck, as cucked as it sounds. :owo:

Overally i rate the experience a 4/10, maybe if i was a normal social member of society it'd be a banger of a time, but oh well. My biggest mistake was probably not drinking alcohol to lower inhibition like everyone else :feelshah:

I like to go to parties, turn on the gas stove, put some utensils in the microwave, throw sum baking flour around the kitchen and leave .

I go to plenty parties to be honest, this one was one of the worse ones 😢

But I've noticed a pattern - everytime i get shitface drunk i enjoy the party, and everytime i don't it's boring. I guess i just need to become the blackout uncle to every party i go to. :feelsautistic:

I don’t like parties either, especially with a lot of people. Every new experience is nice tho.

A bunch of new people, it just felt weird to drink and get drunk with them, because i always did it with close friends before.

True, atleast you know what you enjoy and what you don't, so next time you can either not go or be prepared for it to be shit. :Comfy:

Exactly. I don’t mind partys if I’m with friends or people I know tho. I don’t like talking to new people at all.

Can you even "ntmax" if you're just autistic? I feel like i can't ever go social without substances :feelshah:
imo keeping your head up at all times and learning when and when not to jester is the best way to ntmax

Bro if you drank at that party I’m telling you it would’ve been an 8/10

You were thinking street smarts

But let’s be honest, bro the chances of something happening to you while being drunk is slim to none

It's not really about anything happening to me, it's just i didn't want to embarrass myself infront of people i didn't know.

But realistically, i embarrassed myself more by not drinking and being autistic, but that's just me over thinking about it like an idiot

It's really nice just to have the opportunity to get out of the house and interact/meet new people. It's also very good for your mental health. Experiences like these show you that there is so much more going on in life than you are always aware of, aside from what is happening inside you and in your immediate surroundings..

Literally jfl

And embarrassing broski I guarantee you you unless you hurt yourself or say the n word out loud

They aren’t going to remember whatever “embarrassing” you did

And truth to be told, everyone thinks they did somthing embarrassing when in reality they’re the only ones thinking about that moment

me at my ex girlfriends party, i just sat down playing clash royale, while she ran around speaking to other guys, the fact that she was getting mad at me for not being social when the only times i was with her is when i was following her around like a dog, her mum was really nice tho and ept asking if i as okay and was trying to get her to be with me, perks of having stupid social anxiety :(

I mean i can say that i agree with you but it's just how my mind works, I'll literally never do anything if i think it's in any way "embarrassing" (or a sense of that word) :hnghn:

It's not that i don't like dancing, partying, singing, screaming, smiling, laughing, etc.

It's just that it feels embarrassing in my mind. It's not something i typically do, so i don't do it overall. :feelshah:

I unironically have autism aswell, or aspergers specifically, which might be the reason for this or might just be making it worse. Either way, i don't mind it that much, i can still function just fine by doing things i enjoy :Comfy:

That sucks to hear bhai, and stupid of her to talk to other guys, unfortunately girls are just like that nowadays.

You're right, social anxiety sucks 😢

If your gin tastes like vodka thats a bit concerning :). I spent my 18th birthday alone in my room, but thats mostly because I only celebrate birthdays with my parents and I went home a week later. Maybe its cultural but that sounds unlike most 18th parties, ive been to a few and at the ones where we drink and do all of that its never really a thing where you are socially chatting and having to know everyone, but the gatherings are more often around 15 of us and I will know everyone. But pinatas and stuff isnt really commonplace at least. More to the point I think you will find it a better experience in future since you dont really need to know everyone at a typical one

I see, sounds pretty mundane aswell then. And i haven't actually had a single birthday party in my life except last year, where my mom bought me a supermarket cake and i sat down with my mom and my sister for 20 minutes :owo: It was because my parents were jehovas witnesses - which don't actually celebrate birthdays.

Just skimmed through the entire thread and yeah tbh. Most parties are bland if you don't have a friends group in there. You'll most likely just autistically stand in the corner if you are not giga NT

By that i meant that I'm not really one for tasting and distinguishing alcohol

When i drink, i mainly just take a full shot and down it with another drink. To me, all alcohol tastes abysmal, unless you make a really good drink that drowns out the alcohol taste
