I'm 14, and my maxilla is downward grown. I am getting braces with class II elastics to fix my overbite. How can I fix my downward growth, or at least stop it while I still can? My mandible is also slightly recessed. Please help dood I can't handle being subhuman much longer.

ur getting braces too its officially over

Getting braces is overall stupid when you have an OVERbite.

Develop your skull properly and only then consider getting braces.

You'll walk with your teeth forced into a position you won't find comfortable, leaving you looking like a nutcracker from the imperial's ballet

I've been where you are, same age, same problem, but I convinced my orthodontists to get me a forsus Fatigue Resistant Device, which encourages forward growth in the mandible to correct overbites. It doesn't effect the maxilla at all.If your maxilla is downward grown I don't consider a herbal appliance, because it restricts maxillary growth. Ask your orthodontist for a forsus Fatigue Resistant Device, and if they say no you could get a herbal appliance, and if they say no to that beg your parents to change orthodontists or its truly over unless you hard max.

JFL a herbst doesn’t move your maxilla at all. It brings the lower jaw forward. Me and you are literally in the exact same boat. In your scenario, I would defo get a herbst. It can guide the growth of your mandible.

Go to a better ortho asap, check if you qualify for mse/marpe or larp into it (if ur palate is narrow). Ask your (new) ortho what he thinks about headgear (might not be optimal since it gives cw rotation, maybe you can try neutral/upwards vector but its not the way its intended to be used), otherwise just stick with mse/marpe depending on how severe ur case is. When ur finishen with that in a couple months make sure to get good braces (damon braces are the absolute best).

My palate is slightly narrow. I want to possibly get a twin block appliance because I can get an expansion screw, meaning it will correct my issues while also expanding my palate.

Book a time with a better ortho ASAP

I never said a herbal appliance moves your maxilla, because it doesn't. It just slightly restricts maxillary growth. Also, class two springs are superior to a herbal appliance since it restricts maxillary growth less while guiding the mandible forward.
