My orthodontist advice me not to have double jaw surgery. Couple questions..

So my both maxilla and my jaw are underdeveloped and short ( but proportional ) and it looks like i have a double chin even tho im skinny with no facial fat. I wanted a surgery that will move both my maxilla and jaw forward but my orthodontist advice me not to have double jaw surgery. He says there is no point and that my bite is good and there is no indications for surgery. He also says that after the surgery my nose will appear abnormally large but it seems illogical to me because if everything thats below my nose will be moved forward how can my nose get bigger? Usually in the before / after photos i see the opposite, the nose looks smaller in comparsion because the lower part of the face is fuller and longer. What do you guys think and what would you advice me?

Show pics and we can discuss if you need it. If you advance the maxilla extremely your nose shape changes at it’s likely to get bigger. However this might only be the problem if your nose is already big now

You would benefit from bimax, your ortho is a retard

Orthos will have the bias against jaw surgery and pro braces. Same reason why dentists will have the bias pro wisdom teeth extraction, and maxfac surgeons will have the bias towards always doing bimax.

Ok so i would benefit from bimax but what does bimax mean exactly? A surgery that will move both my maxilla and jaw forward? Also my jaws are narrow, i heard that sometimes they widen them during surgery.. I just want to know what options are available for me. And what about my nose? Will it get bigger? Will it look unnatural and weird after the surgery? What yall think?

Yes, you need bimax. Forget about your ortho and consult a maxfac

So i was consulting with ortho because i just wanted to get braces at first. She told me to get the best result i would need braces + double jaw surgery and that she cooperates with the surgeon. From that point i started thinking about getting jaw surgery. Meanwhile i removed my wisdom teeth in preparation for braces. After some time i consulted with ortho again cause i wanted to put on braces and start the whole process but they told me that the ortho i was consulting before doesnt work there anymore so i met with another one who advised me not to have surgery and he said that he will not take on my treatment. He told me that my bite is perfectly fine so there is no need for the surgery and that all i need is braces to allign my teeth perfectly. He also said that after the surgery my nose would look abnornally large and the surgery makes no sense in my case.

Anyway they both told me that in order to have a double jaw surgery i would first need to straighten my teeth with braces in preparation for surgery and that it would take around two years.

What should i do? Go visit yet another ortho? And what about my nose, will it get bigger and look weird after the surgery?

Never go to an orthontist for surgery. Go directly to someone who practices surgery, that’s who’s opinion matters the most and from the picture you look like you would benefit

100% this unless you go to an airway focused ortho. Mine was straight up and told me I needed Bimax

I got biobloc from an official Mew associate , very happy with the results so now I’m a good looking recessed guy

I’m doing this to reverse the damage of braces and in a couple of years (not too far) I will get bimax and ascend as I will have bettered my base then
