my skin is so bad after a shower

I went on accutane last year and all my acne cleared up completely. now when I go in the shower and come out my face is all red and dry and looks irritated with a bunch of blemishes

Shower in lukewarm water only. Or just turn down the heat when you wash your hair / face

Yeah I have that too because of accutane. Use a gentle cleanser and cold water, lukewarm at most, for your face, and pat dry with a gentle towel

I wash with this everyday and sometimes twice a day in hot shower, JFL how did I not know

There are products that help against dry skin that you can use in the shower, that's what you need.

The problem is not the hot water but your skin. In my case, I get eczema on the palm of my hands when exposed to low temperatures even if it's for less than 5 minutes, and then my skin burns when I touch it, but since I live in the coldest city in North America, I can't avoid the cold in winter, so I use products to fight against it, you must do the same.

Accutane is known to cause dry skin, that's one of the main side effects.

Exact opposite for me. I stopped using products on my face and my skin stopped being dry and I got less spots at the same time. Water is all you need imo.

Hard water or soft water? Soaps dissolve differently depending on dat.

Same. It's likely contact dermatitis with the chemicals from hard water. I found cetaphil gentle facial cleanser hydrates the skin reasonably well + using a hard water filter helps a little. The best thing you can do is keep showers short and use lukewarm water.

Sounds like rosacea, same thing happened to me after accutane. Best treatment available for this is laser treatment from a dermatologist. This removes some of the veins in your face (caused by accutane and sun exposure) and that prevents the flushing you’re experiencing. Also if you haven’t already you need to start religiously using sunscreen because it will continue to get worse.

weird because when I was on accutane this was never a problem (when I should have had the most dry skin), but now it is so inflamed and irritated out of the shower. think I might need a hydrating lotion

I'm on accutane right now (last two months, it got extended - been on it for a while) but I have eczema right now, I hope it's temporary. So annoying because my back is basically clear of acne but after exercise it flares up the eczema so I just have a red back again lol
I'm going to avoid hot showers and moisturise, might help
