Need ADVICE for braces pls!!!

I have braces with a tool to widen them. Could i theoreticaly widen the braces every week to widen my teeth and maybe the palate with them and could it fix my asymmetry. My dentist told me to only widen the right site but my jaw is tilted to the left and I think its the wrong call to widen the right site. Any advice how I could use it to ascend PLS HELP!
