I overhead-pressed 95 lb for 9 reps.

The previous time I OHPed 95 lb, I only got 3 reps.

That’s because I do overhead press after bench press on push day in my routine.

Today I did overhead press as the 1st exercise in the workout, and I 9-repped the weight that I used to only press for 3 reps.

Never do more than 1 heavy compound exercise per day!

you should switch to ohp over bench press in general and just do incline db press

I’m a StrengthLiftingCoper.

I switch from BB flat bench to DB flat bench. For the sole purpose of increasing the flat bench so that my BB bench will be higher when I switch back to it several weeks later.

I do incline bench too.

My OHP is death tier. Average semi-trained man can OHP his bodyweight for 10 reps.
You can’t be serious. The most I’ve done is 65 lbs, although I did it for like 10 reps at least. I could do more tho but I doubt I could do as much as you.

My max OHP was 121lb but that was 9 years without lifting and using makeshift weight using towels, rice bags and waterbottles... Still as heavy as 9 years ago even tho I was 44lb lighter at the time I did it. Insane shit.

It's not true at all. If you calculate 1RM based on 10 x BW it amounts to elite strength according to here:


For a 170 pound dude it would be 225 OHP, which is obviously not something the average semi-trained dude can do.

Wouldn't recommend heavy compounds especially if you care a lot about height.

They can accelerate the height loss process.

Ok then. Not semi-trained but well-trained. A typical male can get to 2-3-4-5 plates in his lifts:
  • 225 OHP
  • 315 Bench
  • 405 Squat
  • 495 Deadlift

Yeah, but then for a 200 pound person it would 265 pound OHP. These dudes are squatting and deadlifting well over those numbers but not getting close to 225 OHP:
