If you think about it, what does opening up really mean when referring to humans? Well we know what it means when you open up the gate to your castle. You're making an opening, weakening the defense, letting anything and anyone that can defeat the guards or go unnoticed get inside, you're putting the whole kingdom at a risk by creating a vulnerability, and once the enemy is inside, everything is getting destroyed, looted or taken over. Its the same with you. Every time you open up to someone, you create a vulnerability that they can easily take advantage of, but you can't just close the door anymore, because you've given up the unreplaceable key.

I get what you’re trying to say, but I think you’re looking at vulnerability in a way that makes it seem like a guaranteed loss. People aren’t castles. We don’t just crumble the second we let someone in. Yeah, opening up creates risk, but it also allows for real connection, tbh you just have to take the risk and hope the person doesnt fuck you over
