Logan Federico, a Waxhaw resident, was visiting friends in Columbia, South Carolina, when Alexander Dickey allegedly broke into the home and killed her.
Records show that Dickey had faced nearly 40 criminal charges in the years leading up to the assault. He was most recently sentenced to five years in prison for burglary in 2023; however, he was credited for time served and released.
"I'm 1,000% OK with the death penalty, without a doubt," Federico said. "I think the justice has to fit the crime, the punishment has to fit the crime."
Federico said he believes the sentence should be carried out swiftly, with a shortened appeals process.
I think if it's adjusted to where the appeals process happens right away, and the amount of time that they're sitting in prison waiting to be executed is lessened, I think that will also help," he said. "My daughter didn't get an appeal.
