I used to use 500 mg of niacin Daily couple of years ago. The big drawback is that after taking it I could forget about falling asleep for the next 36 hoursNiacin:

Niacin works by suppressing Free Fatty Acids and Insulin, which are both critical suppressors for GH release
Suppression of FFA: "Doses administered every 2 hours did not increase GH concentrations significantly. However, at a dose of 500 mg hourly for 4 doses, there was significant suppression of free fatty acids to the pre-specified outcome (<0.2 mEq/L) and detectable increases in growth hormone concentration. Since FM and FFA is directly correlated, the effects of FFA suppression on obese patients is much more pronounced, meaning GH realistically wont increase by 400%
- The age of participants doesn’t really matter, since many studies have shown that suppression of fat free mass also increases GH in adults

Niacin is more effective than gemfibrozil (which is a drug used to treat abnormal blood lipids). Unlike gemfibrozil, which increase both HDL and LDL, Niacin increases HDL while Decreasing LDL.

Benefit 3: Hair health and anti-balding
-Niacin reduces the viscosity, or thickness, of blood (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14642410), this promotes circulation to the scalp which is evident through its flushing mechanism. This is important because Balding men have 2.6X less circulation in their scalp (https://www.jidonline.org/article/0022-202X(89)90189-9/pdf) which indicates Naicin treatment could be beneficial

-People worry that since Niacin releases pgd2 (which when interacts with GPR44 inhibits hair loss), however Niacin flushes pgd2 to a different receptor which doesn’t inhibit hairloss. Actually by flushing pgd2, it makes less pgd2 available to interact with GPR44, and could therefore slowdown hair loss.
