The nigger thought the car would save it. Locked the doors, curled up behind the wheel like metal and glass could make it untouchable. We rocked it first, just to let the nigger feel how thin that refuge really was. When the window shattered, so did its hope. Hands dragged the nigger out, boots came down, again and again, until the fight drained out of its black ass. By the time it was over, the nigger wasn’t hiding anymore. It was just another broken shape in the street, learning too late that shelter means nothing when you’re surrounded.
