Well I agree, but my point is that Russia is depicted as this nation with “imperialistic” goals while you can just as much argue the European Union/NATO fit that description when they try to expand their sphere of influence (even if that is financially/diplomatically).

At the end of the day Ukraine is in the unfortunate position of being stuck between two powers. I don’t think this military action is the best course of action and believe Putin has lost his mind if he wants to annex or make a puppet state out of all of Ukraine. Likewise I consider western actions to have put the squeeze on a large, but weakened state, and a drowning man will clutch at a straw. Which in my opinion is what we see here. Some pro Russian rebels rose up across the country, of which some declared their own territory and Russia swiftly moved into Crimea which is/was a historically vital port for the Russian navy, and the new regime was so anti Russian (they even changed Kiev into Kyiv cause Kiev sounds to Russian jfl).

I mean by every measure of the definition this regime change was a coup against a legitimately chosen government, but because the coup was pro EU it obviously doesn’t matter, and it’s just wonderful. By this logic you can just kill or pursue Biden/Trump out of your country when enough people like one over the other and they disagree with a direction their president wants to take (the US state would mow down people in the thousands if they ever got the balls to genuinely attempt a revolution). For Russia this was obviously a geopolitical issue, but also the final straw after NATO had already said they would allow Ukraine and Georgia into NATO in the future and the EU blatantly supporting a coup that resulted in pushing Russian influence out of the Ukraine.

So, Russia could do nothing, but it will essentially lose it’s autonomy and status as a sovereign nation that wants its own traditions, religion, philosophy, culture, and general way of life. The western part already squeezes them politically and economically. The only way for Russia to get on terms with western countries is if they subjugate themselves and become a liberal, mass virginity ridden place of soy cucks working for western oligarchs instead of eastern.

Probably the best take on this I've seen yet so far. And to the normies that say Crimea was 'illegal annexation' by Russia forget that they literally had a referendum with a 95% vote in favor of joining Russia.
