I went to school in a boring suburb where everyone knows everyone so it would probably drive me nuts if I stayed here all the time. NO opportunities and everyone's boring as hell

Thankfully i go to college in a big town and there's infinitely more things to do there than whenever I come back to my boring suburb life

Well then you should be fine. The rural low class meme is less real today with the internet. I've gone to the deep south and most young people speak without a big accent. With the internet I think so long as you understand English and you were smart to begin with you will develop a normal way of talking. In the past though location mattered a lot more since low class areas sort of mirrored eachother and formed more slang type broken English.

But if you read a lot as a kid and were able to consume content where people spoke in a normal way then you aren't going to speak with that old school broken English accent

Well I don't think its even completely intelligence either. In Georgia I have met some older Southern people and they speak with a lot of weird slang or broken English but they still are smart. I think it just is sort of hard to grow out of after a point.

Sort of like how if you learn English at adulthood you will always sound kind of off because your concept of English was not learned as a child. A lot of them were dumb but I met this really smart engineer friend of my grandpas and he could solve just about any technical problem but still sounded like he had no formal education. Kinda sad accents really do make people judge you but they only correlate with intelligence. Upper class accent implies being smart but you could also be 130 IQ in the deep south. It just so happens that people born in these areas are more likely to come from low IQ parents so that sort of projects this idea.

I've experienced city life and culture so it's felt like the dark ages in a way as has becoming nothing more than a beast of burden for dead end jobs frying my brain with dope while kids younger than me are graduating college and using their minds

I've just had a weird wack sad life and I'm tired of coping and settling for less
