Dr. Mike Mew recommends using an intraoral vacuum to hold the tongue against the palate which is done by swallowing and getting the tongue to stick to the roof. I have observed recently that doing so does not raise the bottom of the face. The area I am referring to is under your chin above your vocal cords (I forgot the name of the area). When you raise your tongue onto your palate, you notice that this part lifts up. When you do the suck hold, it does not raise itself as much as it would if you applied force with the tongue. Does this mean that we should we hard mewing rather than relying on the suction hold?
Another observation is that when you hard mew this area under the chin tenses, try it out and see. So if you were wondering if you were hard mewing, notice it tense itself.
